Overlay Color

This help article is for an old version of Direct Mail.

Use the overlay color tool to add a see-through layer of color on top of an image.

One use case for this tool is "darkening" or "lightening" an image that you want to use as the background for a section. For example, you may want to use the following image as the background of a section of your email:

sample-section-bg-noblur.jpg

You can overlay the color black onto this image to make it darker, suitable for adding some white text on top:

To use this tool:

  1. Open the image editor
  2. Check the "Overlay Color" checkbox
  3. Select the color you want to overlay
  4. If desired, click the color wheel icon to adjust the opacity of the overlay color

If no opacity is specified, a default opacity is chosen for you.
