Zapier allows you to integrate your Direct Mail project with over 2,000 other websites, including Salesforce, Wufoo, Google, and more. Zapier calls these integrations "zaps". You can create a zap to sync your address groups with other apps or services you use, or trigger actions when someone unsubscribes, or when a campaign is sent (check out these popular zaps).
In order to integrate your Direct Mail project with Zapier, you'll need to complete these two steps first (before creating a Zap):
1. Move Your Project to the Cloud
Zapier can only access projects that are stored in the cloud. To move your Direct Mail project to the cloud:
- Open your Direct Mail project
- Choose File > Move from the menu bar at the top of the screen
- Select "Cloud"
- Click Move
Depending on the size of your project, it may take a few minutes for your project to fully sync to the cloud. It may not appear in Zapier until that process completes.
2. Create an API Key
You will paste this key and secret into the Zapier website when creating your Zap (during the "Connect a Direct Mail account" step).
- Open Direct Mail
- Choose Direct Mail > Direct Mail Account from the menu bar at the top of the screen
- Scroll down to the API Access section and click Show
- Click the Add New API Key button
- Copy the new API key and secret and paste them into Zapier
For more information about how Zapier uses your API key, please see the "Using API Keys With Zapier" section below.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why aren't edits in Direct Mail showing up when I try and test my new zap?
Zapier can only see changes that have been synced to the cloud. If you are editing your Direct Mail project, choose File > Save from the menu bar to trigger a new sync (or just wait a few seconds and Direct Mail will do it automatically).
If you just moved your project to the cloud, it may take a few minutes before your project is available for use in Zapier.
Will my zap continue to work if I remove my project from the cloud?
No. Zaps only work with projects stored in the cloud.
Do I need a Zapier account to create a zap?
Yes. You will need a Zapier account to create and run your zaps. Free accounts are available.
Using API Keys With Zapier
By pasting your API key into Zapier, you are granting Zapier permission to access your projects in the cloud. When Zapier uses your API key to access your data, it has access to all of your projects in the cloud. If you have used our API outside of Zapier, you will recognize that Zapier access is special in that your project does not need to grant access to the API key before it can be used.
