Importing message content from a web page

This help article is for an old version of Direct Mail.

You can import the contents of any web page into the body of your email. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Messages tab.
  2. Choose Message > Import Web Page from the menu bar.
  3. Enter the URL and click Import

You can also click on the Body button in the toolbar and choose Import Web Page.

It is important to understand that unless the web page has been designed specifically for use in an email, it likely will not render correctly in most email clients. This is because most email clients only support a narrow subset of what works on the web. For example, here are somethings that will not work in an email:

  • JavaScript
  • Video
  • Plugins
  • Java
  • Many CSS selectors and properties
  • Forms

Use the Preview window to get a rough idea of what your message will look like once it is sent. If you want to see exactly how your email will render after it has been sent, run a design test. Design tests show you screenshots of what your message looks like in all of the top email clients (including mobile, Windows, and web-based email clients).
